Services We Provide

The Northwest Suburban Council Boy Scouts of America joins with business, the church, synagogue, school, home, labor, service and fraternal groups in providing a program to develop physical fitness, self-reliance, citizenship, leadership, and high ideals of service to God and country, and the perpetuation of the free enterprise system

To bring these programs to youth requires cooperative effort of the organizations which charter units, volunteers, career professional staff, and office support staff of the Northwest Suburban Council.

To help volunteer leaders with the operation of the unit, the Council provides a service center with clerical/support staff to:

  • Issue supplies, awards, literature, forms and certificates.
  • Handle membership registration and annual rechartering.
  • Produce bulletins to keep leaders informed of latest local and national events and program ideas.
  • Handle telephone calls and visitors seeking information and assistance.
  • Produce District and Council calendars and schedules, program kits and program aids.
  • Make reservations for visual-aid equipment, camping, training events, and special activities.

  • The Council provides a trained, full-time career staff; who:

  • Counsel and train volunteer leaders on unit programs, activities, and operation.
  • Guide volunteer groups in the development of programs that directly benefit leaders and youth.
  • Maintain liaison with chartering organizations.
  • Secure services through contacts with community and service organizations, religious bodies, labor, industry, government, etc., for all units that they alone could not obtain.

  • To provide the unit with District and Council activities and service, the Council:

  • Conducts activities for all unit participation such as leader training, Roundtables, Camporees, and featured Council events.
  • Works with civic groups to arrange for youth participation in civic affairs.
  • Recruits and maintains a staff of volunteers to visit and counsel units.
