For all units, Scouts and Leaders who registered and attended the July 4
Scouting On Track event at Arlington Park may now stop by the Council
Office (NOT the Scout Shop) and pick up their appropriate number of patches.
Please bring the “redemption voucher” (given to you at the Registration
table) with you to claim your unit patches. This will be checked against the
actual registration form. Patches will be issued only to those registered or
attendance-verified.
If you attended the event and were unable to register, you will be asked to
verify your attendance with your District Executive.
For your participation in Scouting On Track and your patience, the committee
thanks you and regrets the patch production delay.
Important Changes to the Boy Scouts of America's Youth Protection Training Policy
Youth safety is the No. 1 concern of the BSA. To increase awareness of this societal problem and to create even greater barriers to abuse than already exist today in Scouting, the Boy Scouts of America is implementing several important changes to further enhance its Youth Protection policies.
Effective June 1, 2010:
-- Youth Protection training is required for all registered volunteers.
-- New leaders are required to take Youth Protection training before they submit an application for registration. The certificate of completion for this training must be submitted at the time application is made and before volunteer service with youth begins.
-- Youth Protection training must be taken every two years. If a volunteer's Youth Protection training record is not current at the time of recharter, the volunteer will not be reregistered.
Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association is looking for volunteers. They will be running the National Junior Disability Championships between July 18-24th. They are looking for volunteers. The event will be held in Deerfield. All volunteers must be over 14. For more information please visit njdc2010.org
