Family Camping

Enjoy family time at Camp Lakota. Programming provided - just bring your own food and equipment.

May 2-4 - Family Camp #1 - Camping with Critters (Animal themed camp)

Have you ever wondered what type of animal made this track or that one? What about where animals go when the day is done? What does it mean to "eat like a bird"? The whole family / Pack / Troop / Crew is invited out for our first family camp of 2014 for a fun filled weekend discovering all different types of animals! Tracks, homes, food sources, and more!

This weekend will encompass everything from birds to critters that roam around on all fours in camp. How many can you spot and "capture" with your camera?

Family Camp @ Oakarro - Wild, Wild West! - Friday-Sunday, June 13-15
Your scouts get to have fun, learn some skills, and get to know nature better. They can attend with their family, pack, or den. If you register as a pack or den, a minimum of 2 adult leaders is required (See Day Camp for examples of adult/scout ratios). If registering as a family (parent with own cub scout), only one adult is required. Register


June 20-22 - Family Camp #2 - TRYathalon

Get up and get to camp for this exciting weekend of physical challenges. TRYathlon is an exciting weekend where your skills will be tested in a variety of games and challenges. Can you make it through the obstacle course? Which team will win the relay race?

This isn't your average TRYatholon. Not only will there be physical challenges and activities but we will also have a variety of games and sports to TRY while you enjoy a weekend of camping at Lakota. Not to mention a few tips and best practices for staying healthy!

No matter the outcomes as long as you "Do your best" you will succeed at the Lakota TRYathlon!

Akela Camp (Webelos Camp) @ Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan - Wild, Wild West! - Sunday, June 29 - Wednesday, July 2
This Webelos Only Resident Camp is an exciting adventure that will give Webelos 1 & Webelos 2 Scouts a taste of Boy Scout Adventure while they earn activity badges & belt loops, and camp with their parent or Webelos leader. There is a minimum of 2 adults for pack and den registrations. If registering as a family (Parent with own Webelos), only one adult is required. Register


Family Camp @ Lakota - July 10-13 - Cub / Family Camp Adventure at Napowan


July 25-27 - Family Camp #3 - Construction / Tools / Simple Machines & Electronics

This weekend will be centered on construction, tools, simple machines, & simple electronic circuits. How much weight can you lift using lever or pulleys? What can you make with tools and wires? Come out to Lakota to discover all the answers and take home what you make!

August 22-24 - Family Camp #4 - Farming

Head out to Camp Lakota to learn everything about Farming. Grow your own vegetables, fruits, and discover all the different types of machines used to run a farm! Don't forget about farm animals. How many farm animals can you think of? Come to Lakota to find out how many there are!

October 10-12 - Fall Family Camp #5 - STEM

Back by popular demand is our STEM Family Camp weekend! Travel around all the different STEM stations (Science Technology Engineering & Mathematics). Exciting new experiments and activities in every area! Yes even MATH!!!

Keeping with our Earth Science theme of 2014 this STEM Family camp will include (Science) plant analysis with color extraction, (Technology) paper making, (Engineering) worm farms, and (Math) water purification.

FOR ALL LAKOTA FAMILY CAMPS:

Adults, Scouts, & Siblings 4 & up are $25 /per person. 3 & under are free. Meals are additional if you choose to purchase meals.

Arrive between 4 pm - 7 pm Friday evening for setting up your campsite with an orientation & cracker barrel at 8 pm. Then all day Saturday enjoy a great day at Lakota ending with a fire-bowl program. Sunday will offer a scout's own and packing up your campsite.

Don't forget BB, Archery, Climbing Tower, & the Pool will be open weather permitting.

Do you like to cook outdoors? Great you can cook all, or pick and choose which of, your own meals to prepare.

Don't like to cook outdoors? Not a problem. We will cook for you.

All family camp meals are a la carte. Each breakfast is $5/per person or lunches & dinners are $7/per person. Choose 1 meal or choose them all!

Adult supervision is required - Cub Scout Packs 1:4 ratio Boy Scouts & Venturers 1:10 ratio leadership required.

**BE SURE TO INCLUDE WHICH CAMP YOU ARE ATTENDING. Using the same form for attending multiple camps is alright just be sure to indicate the camps you will be attending.
