Advancement is one of the methods of Scouting in all levels of Scouting. Information on Advancement can be found in the Guide to Advancement 2011, as well as in the Handbooks for each level of Scouting.
Each month the National Advancement committee publishes an Advancement Newsletter. To subscribe to this newsletter send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Put SUBSCRIBE in the subject line and in the body of the email put your name email address and council affiliation. The newsletter archive is available here.
Roundtables are another good resource for Advancement related topics. Each district hosts a Roundtable monthly. Please see the Roundtable page for details.

As of January 1, 2014, the Northwest Suburban Council will accept only
Internet Advancement paperwork for recording Scouts’ advancements. Some units are already going online and using the system. It is much more efficient and timely to enter the Scouts’ advancement this way. The paperwork that is turned in, when you purchase the awards, is the same as it always was: Two copies of the printable report to be left in the Scout Shop, and for Boy Scouts the 1/3 section of the blue MB Application card.
At the September Roundtable there will be an envelope for each Unit with information and instructions and the Unit ID Number needed to begin the process.
The Youth Development Committee is also offering Advancement Training seminars on September 28, which will cover not only basic advancement for each program, but also Internet Advancements. Click here to find helpful links.
